A Transcendent Cause

The Conclusion

We have been working on our book “Treign Up:  Training and Affirming Boys to be Competent Men of Christ-like Character” for a couple of years now.  As we are finishing our second draft, Ben asked that I put together a conclusion for the book.  

I didn’t want to do a review of the book.  That would be a summary.  What would I want to say in ‘concluding’ our initial research into this problem?   I’d been mulling it over and then I saw the movie, “Dune: Part II”.  As the young man, Paul Atreides, takes his place in leading the Fremen to recapture their home planet of Arrakis, he has a moment where he fully embraces their hopes for him as their Kwisatz Haderach, (Messiah).  He stands before the people and gives them a rally cry for the battle ahead.  It’s passionate and it’s powerful.  He’s not Ray Lewis trying to inspire the Baltimore Raven’s defense, but it’s good.  And it seems to have been a long time since we’ve seen a young man step into his hero’s journey with such fervor and resolve.  It’s very refreshing.
